Pretty

Tony had a way with words and looks. He could rise you up with a kind phrase and get across a less generous message with the clever use of words. Two examples immediatelly spring to mind:

“You’re still the prettiest girl in here,” he whispered to a dear friend one evening while her spirits were low, and he truly meant it. With Tony they were never ‘just words.

“She’s a handsome woman,” he once commented while we were watching a UK based reality style show referring to one of the contestants . The members of the whatsapp group to which this was reported knew immediately what he meant. Never unkind, but succinct and conveying his message.

How I miss his wordsmithery. He could put mine to shame.
